The February Family Reading Extravaganza is sponsored by the PTA. We hope that the activities promoted during February will encourage families to read together and increase children’s interest in reading – books and beyond.
Hopefully your child has already been working on the first activity – the reading detective sheet. This is a kind of reading scavenger hunt where you child needs to find answers to most of the questions on the sheet. This sheet should be turned into your child’s classroom teacher on Monday, February 8th. Children who complete the sheet will get a small prize. And of course we’ll see which classrooms had the best participation. Haven’t seen the sheet? Download the form here.
The next activity is one that your whole family can do together. Your child received a bingo sheet with lots of different kinds of reading opportunities. The goal is to check off as many of the boxes as you can. Everyone in the family can help. Just have the person initial the box when they are done. The cards can be turned in at the ice cream social / book fair (February 23) for a prize AND the chance to really play bingo. Children who can’t attend this event can turn them into their classroom teacher on February 24th for a prize. The bingo sheet can also be downloaded here.
Questions? Email Sarah Verbiest at sverbiest@yahoo.com. Stay tuned – more fun to come!

Don’t forget to Re-link your Harris Teeter VIC card to Pearsontown #1288. The programs starts August 1st. To link your card, give the cashier our code 1288, and your linked for the entire school year. Please ask your family members, friends, and co-workers that shop at Harris Teeter to link their card to Pearsontown. Once your VIC card is linked, Pearsontown receives a percentage of your Harris Teeter brand purchases in the form of cash. This is a free and easy way to help raise money for our school. Reminder cards are available to print out to the left.

Welcome Pearsontown Pandas
We would like to welcome new families to the Pearsontown community and welcome back returning families for the 2009-2010 school year.
As many of you already know, Pearsontown is a rich community because of the incredibly strong support of our families and our wonderful and caring staff.
We are very excited about the upcoming school year and all the activities we’ve planned to enrich the lives of our children.
